The Wide Road and the Narrow Road
(July 28, 2025)
Led Zepplin, in their classic rock song “Stairway to Heaven” nailed it when they
sang, “Yes, there are two paths you can go by…” They understood, unlike some
even in Christian circles, that life boils down to two roads…God’s Road and the
Devil’s Road.
Jesus Christ, the Son of God, said in Matthew 7:13-14, “Enter through the narrow
gate. For wide is the gate and broad is the way that leads to destruction, and
many enter through it. But small is the gate and narrow the road that leads to life,
and only a few find it.” Now there are many lanes on the wide road. Here are just
a few: the lane of leisure, the lane of wealth, the lane of sexual pleasure, the lane
of power, and to the surprise of many, the lane of religion.
On the other hand, there is only room for one lane on the narrow road…the lane
of the Lordship of Jesus Christ. Yes, I said Lordship. You cannot have Jesus as just
your savior and not your Lord. To refuse to allow Jesus Christ to be the Lord of
your life is to be a rebel and no rebel has eternal life within them or will be
allowed into heaven. The truth is they would hate it there, because heaven is all
about the Lordship of Jesus Christ.
Oh, and by the way, did you know that the narrow road runs in the opposite
direction and right down the middle of the wide road? If you choose the narrow
way just know that you will encounter fierce opposition from those on the wide
road. But be of good cheer, Jesus has overcome those on the wide road!
Now let’s return to Led Zepplin for a moment. The whole quote I mentioned at
the beginning goes like this: “Yes, there are two paths you can go by but in the
long run, there’s still time to change the road you’re on.”
Friend, I must warn you that Lep Zepplin is wrong about having time, dead wrong.
The fact is that you don’t know how much time you have to decide for Christ.
