Father, It Is Time!

Heaven was buzzing with anticipation. All the angels knew something incredible was about to happen, but no one knew what. Speculation ran rampant among the heavenly host. Suddenly, there was a new excitement in the worship as the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit exited the Holy of Holies.

The Archangel, Michael, motioned for silence while the Son knelt before the Father and said, “Father, it is time.”

The rest of the heavenly host gasped as they watched the Lord of all creation step into time and take human form in the womb of a poor teenage Jewish girl. Gabriel was dispatched to inform Mary of the miracle that had just taken place.

“Greetings, you who are highly favored! The Lord is with you.” The heavenly messenger said as Mary started to tremble when she saw him.

But Gabriel said, “Do not fear Mary…You will conceive by the Holy Spirit and give birth to a Son. You are to give Him the name Jesus…and He will be called the Son of God.”

Mary said, “I am the Lord’s servant. May your word to me be fulfilled.”

And it came to pass in those days that Joseph and Mary went up from Nazareth to Bethlehem to be taxed according to the decree of Caesar Augustus. And while they were there the time came for the baby to be born. And Mary gave birth to her first born, a son, and wrapped Him in swaddling clothes and laid him in a manger, because there was no room for them in the Inn.

Out in the fields, shepherds were watching their flocks at night when suddenly an angel of the Lord appeared to them, and the glory of the Lord shone around them and they were terrified. But the angel said, “Fear not, for I bring you good news that will be for all the people. For unto you is born this night in the town of David a Savior, who is the Messiah, Christ the Lord! You will find the baby wrapped in cloths and lying in a manger.”

And suddenly a host of angels appeared and said, “Glory to God in the highest! And on earth peace, goodwill toward men!”
