Real Faith is a Bold Faith!
I realize that the title of this article is a daring statement. Some may disagree with it, and I understand their hesitation. After all, the Apostle Paul’s protégé, Timothy was a bit timid, but his faith was real for sure. He was Paul’s right-hand man and pastored the Ephesian church for many years after Paul left. However, Prov. 18:1 states that, “The wicked flee when no one pursues but the righteous are a bold as a lion.” God wants us to have a bold faith!
My purpose is not to disparage those whose faith is weak, we have all been there, after all Jesus said that a faith the size of a mustard seed can move a mountain, rather, I want to encourage all of us to strive for a bolder faith.
Now we must be careful here to remember that though the size of our faith is important, the size of our God in whom we place our faith is more vital to keep in mind. Because our God is almighty, all-powerful, all-knowing, and good we can come boldly before His throne! We can trust Him for mighty things!
What do you need to trust God for today? Do you need courage to say a hard thing? Do you need more boldness in your witness as you share your faith? Maybe you are facing a devastating diagnosis, and you feel your faith wobbling. Remember, your God is sovereign over the whole universe, and He is your God. Psalm 55:22 says, “Cast your burden on the LORD and He will sustain you, He will never let the righteous be shaken.” You CAN have a bold faith because your God is an awesome God!
But you may ask, “If my faith is weak, how do I make it stronger?” The answer is found in Romans 10:17, “Consequently, faith comes from hearing the message, and the message is heard through the word about Christ.”
As you immerse yourself in the Word of God, He will increase your faith. But do not simply read it. Study it! Put it into practice in your daily life and watch God grow your faith. The power that your God used to raise Christ from the dead is the same power God will use to help you exhibit a bold faith! He is trustworthy. He promises to honor His word. He loves to show Himself strong on behalf of those who put their trust in Him. Believe Him today! Then step out in faith!
