Signs of a New Life

Just as there are signs of new life springing up (pun intended) all around us right now that indicates the end of winter and the beginning of a new season, so when a soul is born again there will be signs of the presence of a new life within. It is impossible for the Holy Spirit to enter a person without making His presence known in very concrete ways.
First, there will be a hunger for the Word of God in the newly converted. They will have a deep desire for the “sincere milk of the Word” (1 Peter 2:2). Because the Spirit of God lives within them, they will crave to know what God thinks about everything.
As in God’s natural creation when there is new life there will be growth. The second sign of the presence of the new birth will be that the person will start to exhibit the characteristics of Jesus. They will begin to show evidence of the fruit of the Holy Spirit – love, joy, peace, etc. The violent man will become gentle, the liar will become truthful, the immoral will become pure.
The third sign of the new birth will be a desire to testify to others of the difference that the presence of Jesus Christ has made in their life. They will want their friends and family members to know the peace and joy that they have experienced by knowing Jesus. Just like Andrew went and found his brother Peter, and Peter after meeting Jesus knew He was the Messiah.
Mom, dad, teenager, if you have prayed a prayer or walked down the aisle of a church yet do not display any of these signs of new birth, you need to examine yourself to see if you really have saving faith (2 Corinthians 13:5). Ask God to make Himself real to you. Repent of your unbelief and turn to Christ alone for your salvation. He said, “Whoever comes to me I will never turn away (John 6:37). Make sure you are His. It is too important to leave it to chance.
