What to Do If Your Spouse Won’t Try (Part 1)

Some people might argue that if one spouse in a marriage won’t try, the marriage
is over. But is that really true? Not according to Dr. Jim Talley who said, “The key
for reconciliation to happen is for the person who wanted to stay in the marriage
to always stay at the line of reconciliation, always ready to accept their partner
back and work things out.”
Friend, this means that there is hope for your marriage! Dr. Talley also says,
“…almost always the person who so badly wanted out of the marriage, will at
some point in time come back to the line of reconciliation, have second thoughts,
and want to at least try on the marriage, and often reconcile.”
I want to speak to you if you are the one who wants your marriage to make it. You
are probably asking right now, “but how do I stay at the line of reconciliation?” It
is my belief that for you to remain at the line of reconciliation, you must first give
yourself to Jesus Christ, then give your spouse to God, then set up camp at the
line of reconciliation for the long term. In your heart you must delete the “D”
word from your heart, mind and vocabulary.
Give yourself to Jesus Christ – This job is too big for you. You need the wisdom,
strength and humility that only Jesus can give. If you have given your heart to
Jesus, then you’re on the right road. If you have never believed on Jesus Christ to
save you from your sins, then you are not well-equipped to handle the difficult
time that is coming.
You are a sinful person, my friend. You are in trouble with a holy God who will not
forgive you unless you believe on His Son, Jesus, and ask Him to save you from
your sins. Your sins must be paid for. Either you will pay for your own sins in hell,
or you will admit you are helpless to save yourself and ask Jesus, who paid for
your sins on the cross, to forgive your sins and save you from them.
Jesus will forgive you of every sin you’ve committed and give you His Holy Spirit to
live in you and give you the power to stay at the line of reconciliation in humility.
