Great is God’s Faithfulness
(March 2, 2026)
In Exodus 34 God passed in front of Moses and proclaimed His name and
character, “The LORD, the LORD, the compassionate and gracious God, slow to
anger, abounding in love and faithfulness…” [emphasis mine]. God says that one
of His eternal characteristics is faithfulness, the quality of always being there
under all circumstances, never changing, never failing, never quitting.
We see many examples of God’s faithfulness in His creation – the sun rises every
day, the law of gravity never changes, the tides always occur right on time. Psalm
36:5 says, “Your mercy, O LORD, [is] in the heavens; Your faithfulness [reaches] to
the clouds.” In other words, God’s faithfulness is unlimited! Without end!
If it was not for God’s faithfulness and the faithfulness of His Son, Jesus Christ, the
universe would revert to utter chaos. Colossians 1:17 says, “…and in Him [Christ]
all things hold together.” Jesus Christ is the “force” if you will that keeps
everything from flying apart into oblivion.
So, what does the fact that God is faithful mean to us on a practical basis?
Physically, it means that we live in a stable world. The laws of physics,
aerodynamics, gravity, etc. are always in force. And we can depend on the fact
that as long as the earth and universe endures, they will remain in force.
Spiritually, God’s faithfulness means that we can depend on everything He says to
be true and stay true forever. When He says He loves us He means it. When He
says He is not willing that any should perish, He is serious. When He says,
“whoever comes unto me I will never turn away,” He will always keep His word.
When God promises to be with you through your trials, you can count on it!
When God says there is a heaven to be gained and a hell to be shunned, you can
depend on the fact that He means it. It is absolutely true!
Friend, God is faithful! His faithfulness is without limit! Don’t you want to know a
God like that? Don’t let the enemy distract you with foolish questions and
arguments. God has revealed Himself through His Word, the Bible. Get to know
Him; then believe on His Son, Jesus Christ, and obtain eternal life. He promised!
