Guard Your Heart!

Like an avalanche begins with one snowflake, so the ruin of a life begins with one
thought. Proverbs 4:23 says, “Guard your heart with all diligence, for out of it
spring the issues of life.” The song “Guard Your Heart,” by Steve Green puts it this
way:
What appears to be a harmless glance
Can turn to romance
And homes are divided.
Feelings that should never have been
Awaken within
Tearing the heart in two, listen I beg of you
Guard your heart, guard your heart
Don’t trade it for treasure, don’t give it away
Guard your heart, guard your heart
As a payment for pleasure, it’s a high price to pay
For a soul that remains sincere with a conscience clear
Guard your heart.
2 Corinthians 10:5 says “…we take captive every thought to make it obedient to
Christ.” The moment a wicked thought comes into your mind, take it to Christ and
make it obey Him. We dare not toy with it, coddle it, or let it linger. A baby
rattlesnake possesses its full venom at birth. So the power is present in the first
wicked thought to ruin your life!
The way to “…Flee sexual immorality” (1 Corinthians 6:18), is to put to death the
first thought of temptation. No one who is overcome by sexual immorality can say
that they were tempted beyond their ability to resist (1 Corinthians 10:13).
Are you being tempted right now to wander in your thoughts towards another
woman, another man? Take the mask off Satan’s lie. That path leads to death!
Deal with it with the help of the Holy Spirit and the blood of Christ. The price
you’ll pay to take that road is way too high!
