Satan’s Favorite Lies – Part 2

Satan’s Favorite Lies – Part 2
(August 10, 2026)

Paul declared in 2 Corinthians 2:11 that he was not ignorant of Satan’s devices,
but can that be said of the church today? I am concerned that too many times the
church gets its “wisdom” from the world – tv, movies, bestsellers, music, etc.
Back in my day a popular movie was “Love Story” starring Ali McGraw and Ryan
O’Neal. One of the lines in that movie says, “Love means never having to say
you’re sorry.” Friends, that is a lie from the enemy of our souls.
When we do something wrong against someone, the Bible says in James 5:16 to
“confess your faults one to another.” And when we sin against God it says in 1
John 1:9, “confess your sins to God and He will forgive us.” Humility, confession
and repentance are critical in maintaining healthy relationships with God and
each other.
Another big lie Satan tries to feed us is this: “All my sins are paid for by Christ on
the cross, therefore my sins don’t matter. I can live the way I choose.” Scripture
says in Romans 6:1-2 says, “What shall we say, then? Shall we go on sinning so
that grace may increase? By no means!” And later in chapter 6 Paul makes the
point that being a slave to sin leads to death – spiritual death. Furthermore, in
Romans 6:4 it says that we have died to sin so that we may live a new life, not
stay in bondage to the old life. A true child of God will not continue to live in sin (1
John 3:9).
Finally, the last lie we’ll examine is this: “You have sinned too much. God will not
forgive you.” Friend, God says in Romans 10:13 that “Whoever calls upon the
name of the Lord will be saved.” You cannot out sin the grace of God, you can only
refuse it. 1 John 1:9 says, “If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just and will
forgive us our sins and cleanse us from all unrighteousness.”
Dear struggling soul, God loves you so much He sent His only Son to pay your sin
debt. You can go to Him at any time to find mercy, and grace to help you in your
time of need (Heb 4:16). Confess your sins to Him and repent. He will forgive you!
