Where Are You Leading Your Family Part 1

On October 14, 2016, Jim Marshall of the Minnesota Vikings recovered a fumble and ran full speed into the end zone for what he thought was a touchdown. The only problem was that he had run the wrong way. He not only did not score a touchdown, but he scored a safety for the other team, and he let his teammates down. 

Jim was like a lot of men today: he was sincere that he was running the right way, he did not hear his teammates telling him to turn around, and he let his teammates down. Are you sure you are running the right way in life? Your “teammates”, in other words, your family, are counting on you. 

Let me explain. The gospel of Jesus Christ is clear. Jesus said in John 14:6, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No man comes to the Father except through me. This means that the decision to follow Christ or not, is the most important decision a man will make in this life. It will determine where he leads his wife and children. 

What have you decided to do with the claims of Jesus Christ? Have you believed in Him as your Savior and Lord? Or have you rejected Him? Jesus said, “He who is not with me is against me.” 

Maybe you are not sure of what you are to believe. All people are sinful from birth. We have all broken God’s law. As rebels, we are destined for hell because of our sins. But God loved us so much that instead of watching us plummet into hell, He sent His only Son, Jesus, to die on a cross to pay for our sins, and if we believe that and ask for His forgiveness and repent of our rebellion against Him, He will forgive us our sins and give us eternal life. 

So, “What are you going to do with Jesus?” I urge you to repent of your sins, and turn to Christ in faith, believing what He did for you, and receiving His gift of eternal life. Don’t lead your family the wrong way in life! Follow Christ across the correct goal line!
