Brain Transplant - Part 2

We’ve all seen a squirrel dart across the road, then for some reason stop, hesitate, change direction a couple of times, then if he’s lucky, escape the tires of an oncoming car to the safety of the ditch.

Have you ever felt like that squirrel? You make a decision, then second guess yourself two or three times before heading with trepidation in a direction you hope is the right one. Many of us have been there from time to time, but too many people live in this constant state of uncertainty. It causes anxiety, stress, and interferes with the life of faith our heavenly Father wants for us.

If this is you, I want you to know, beyond any doubt, that you do not have to live confused and worried any longer. If you belong to Christ, there is a life of peace and rest waiting for you, you only need to take God at His word. Let’s use the acronym REST

Worry is a sin, so as with any sin, Repentance is the first step to victory. Change your mind about accepting the worry and confusion as who you are. Embrace God’s truth that as His child, through the power of the Holy Spirit in you, you CAN take control of your thoughts, Then, take a Step of faith and prayerfully turn your thoughts to the job in front of you, (paint that deck; mow that lawn; go to your son’s ballgame), Trusting that God will enable you to stay focused on Him and the work He has called you to do.

If you practice doing these 4 things, you WILL find God’s rest for your mind and quietness for your soul. Sooner than you think, you will discover yourself being less distracted and anxious in your mind, and more at peace in your heart. Don’t give up! God has told you to “take captive every thought and make it obedient to Christ…” (2 Corinthians 10:5) and He will enable you to do it!

Remember, “…the One who is in you is greater than he who is in the world.” Would you pray this prayer: “Father, forgive my worry, help me to trust you.”
