Do You Need to Change Clothes – Part 3

Old sayings can be so conflicting. For instance, on the one hand, “you can’t teach an old dog new tricks”, yet on the other hand, “you’re never too old to learn”. Thank God we have something more solid to base our life choices on than that! 

You see, for the believer in Jesus Christ the truth is “if the Son sets you free, you will be free indeed!” (John 8:36). Men, would you like to be free from the sin that is enslaving you right now? You can be! Jesus Christ will do that for you, but you must do things His way. 

We have been talking about “putting off the old man” and “putting on the new man” as the key to victory over the sin in our lives. We learned last time that to do this we must believe what God says is true and not the way we feel.  

Satan uses our feelings to lie to us. He says “you’ll never change, you’ve been this way for too long”. God says “if anyone is in Christ he is a new creation. The old has gone; the new has come!” (2 Corinthians 5:17). God has done it all through Christ’s work on the cross. All that is left for us to do is BELIEVE IT! 

If you have believed on Christ for your salvation, then all you need to do now is decide to believe that you CAN “put off the old man” and “put on the new man” God has already created you to be in Christ Jesus. In the same way you have trusted that Christ paid for your sins, and you are completely forgiven, trust Him that you are NOT the old lying, lustful, hateful self you used to be. You are now truthful, pure, and filled with His love because you are in Christ! 

Believe God, not your feelings! This is what it means to live by faith. We trust that what God says about us is true, not what we hear the enemy of our soul tell us. We know that God is true. As you put into practice this wonderful truth, Jesus will set you free from the sins that have enslaved you! Isn’t it time to begin to experience His abundant life?
