Have I Waited Too Long?
(September 8, 2025)
Have I waited too long to accept Christ? That was the question the tortured soul
sitting in front of me had asked. There was deep pain in his haggard eyes as he
poured out his heart about how he had run away from God and now he was
haunted by the question he had just put to me. Maybe that is you. You have
rejected God’s gracious offer of salvation all your life and now you wonder if it is
too late to be saved.
Well, my friend, consider this. You are asking the wrong question. The point is not
is it too late, but what will you do with Jesus now? You cannot do anything about
past decisions to reject Christ, but you are alive right now and where there is life
there is hope.
In Isaiah 65:2 God says, “All day long I hold out my hands to an obstinate
people…” What God is saying is even though you have rejected me all this time, I
am still offering salvation to you. It is always true that whosoever will may come.
And “Everyone who calls on the name of the LORD will be saved” (Rom. 10:13).
When God touches a heart and calls a soul to salvation the devil will whisper,
“Not now; you have plenty of time. You can accept Jesus later.” Then if we listen
to him and wait, when the Holy Spirit comes again to call us to receive Christ’s
offer of salvation the devil comes and says, “It’s too late for you.”
Don’t listen to any of his lies. In 2 Corinthians 6:1-2 God says, “As God’s co-
workers we urge you not to receive God’s grace in vain. For He says, ‘In the time of
my favor I heard you, and in the day of salvation I helped you.’ I tell you, now is
the time of God’s favor, now is the day of salvation.”
Thank Jesus for dying on the cross to pay for your sins. On the basis of God’s
promise that “Everyone who calls on the name of the LORD will be saved,” thank
God for saving you. Then rest on His Word that you are saved.
