How to Have Faith Despite Unanswerable Questions
(July 20, 2026)
Do you have any questions for God? I was talking to one of my sons one day and
he asked, “If God knew that the Satan was going to fall why did He create him
anyway?” It really bothered him and I wished that I had an answer. However, that
question and ones like it are not answered in the Scriptures, so we really
shouldn’t venture an answer for a question that the Bible is silent on. But there is
a bigger question than that and it IS answerable.
This is the question I posed to my son: “Will you let the questions that have no
answers prevent you from knowing and responding to the questions to which you
CAN understand and know the answer?”
Questions like: 1) Who is Jesus Christ? 2) Why did He come to earth? 3) Is there a
heaven or hell? 4) Can I have a relationship with God? 5) If so, how? All these
questions have a definitive answer in holy Scripture and can be known and
believed with confidence.
The main question for you and me is: Will we believe the answers?
Let me share some answers. 1) Jesus is God in the flesh (John 10:22-30) 2) Jesus
came to give eternal life to men (John 10:10) 3) There is a heaven and hell
(Matthew 5:29) 4) Yes, Jesus wants a relationship with you (Revelation 3:20)
5) Faith is the key to a relationship with God through Jesus Christ (John 14:6).
So, the key to having faith despite having unanswerable questions is to focus on
the things God has revealed. Deuteronomy 29:29 says, “The secret things belong
to the LORD our God, but the things revealed belong to us and to our children
forever, that we may follow all the words of the law.”
God has given us a testimony in His Word about His only Son Jesus. We have a
choice to believe the testimony or not. 1 John 2:22 says, “Who is the liar? It is
whoever denies that Jesus is the Christ. Such a person is the antichrist – denying
the Father and the Son.”
Friend, these things are true! Please believe in Jesus Christ, God’s only Son!
