Lead from a Heart at Peace

Lead From a Heart of Peace

Men, do you lead your wife and children from a heart at peace? Or is there war in your heart? Because if you are at war with God, you cannot lead from a heart at peace. As a matter of fact, if you are at war with anyone, you cannot lead from a heart at peace.

Colossians 3:15 says, “Let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts…” That peace is the stabilizing influence and the prerequisite of wise decisions and actions. Certainly, if we are at war with God over a sin in our lives, we will be unable to hear from Him and access His peace. The same is true if we are resisting our Lord in submitting to a direction He has for our lives.

However, we not only need to be at peace with God, but we must also be at peace with each other before we can lead from a heart at peace. Matthew 18:15-35 outlines clearly how to handle conflict between God’s children. Too many of us have unopened gifts for God at the “altar” that will remain unopened by Him and received by Him as long as we refuse to reconcile with our brother.

Finally, we cannot be at war with ourselves and lead from a heart at peace. The Apostle James says a double-minded man is unstable in all he does. So, how can we obtain a heart of peace to be able to lead rightly?

First, we must make peace with God. The Bible says that if you refuse Jesus Christ God’s wrath is on you at this very moment. You must believe Jesus is God’s Son; He died on the cross to pay for your sins; He was buried and rose the third day and now lives to receive your prayer of repentance. Repentance means you will turn away from your sins and receive His gift of eternal life by faith.

When you believe, receive Jesus as the Lord of your life and your Savior, you will have peace with God. Then God will help you make peace with the other things in your life so that you can start to lead your wife and children from a heart at peace. Why not humble yourself before God right now and ask Him to save you?
