“Like a Thief in the Night”
(December 15, 2025)
“Like a thief in the night” is a phrase found in 1 Thessalonians 5:1 where Paul says,
“Now, brothers and sisters, about the times and seasons we do not need to write
to you, for you know very well that the day of the Lord will come like a thief in the
night.”
The day of the Lord refers to the time of the 7-year Tribulation through the
Millenium, which at the end of that time Christ will conquer every enemy and
judge the world at the Great White Throne judgment.
However, my purpose here is not to delve into specific end-time interpretations,
rather, I want to emphasize the importance of the fact that the day of the Lord
will come without warning and suddenly, as Scripture puts it, “like a woman giving
birth.”
If you live in certain parts of the United States and hear of an approaching
hurricane, you can be sure that you will be making great preparations to protect
yourself and your property. How much more should you make sure you are ready
to meet your Creator God?
Jesus Christ could come at any moment, after which the terrible time known as
the 7-year Great Tribulation will begin. It will be a time of God’s wrath on a
wicked, Christ-rejecting world. It will be a time of horrible plagues, pestilence,
deception, and suffering. Do you really want to take a chance that you might
experience it?
Friend, hear God’s word to you from 2 Corinthians 6:2, “…In the time of my favor I
heard you, and in the day of salvation I helped you. I tell you, now is the time of
God’s favor; now is the day of salvation.”
Will you repent of your sinful ways, call on Jesus Christ to forgive your sins and
save you from them, and surrender your life to Him right now? You just don’t
know how much time you have!
