Stop the Blame Game! Part 1
I knew a man who stopped taking responsibility for his wife and family because, he said, “she resists my leadership, and I am tired of it. If she wants to lead this family, then fine, I give up!”
So, instead of seeking wisdom and strength from the Lord and godly men, he went into a severe depression. It was not the only reason for his depression, but it contributed to it. I know this man’s story so well because it is my own. Thankfully, I did not abandon my family physically, but I certainly left them emotionally, and the damage was severe. I am not proud of it, but that is what I did. However, I learned that one can abdicate their role as the head of their household, but God continues to hold him responsible for his wife and family.
If you have done this, or you are thinking about bailing out either emotionally or physically, please read on before you do.
First, with everything in me, I beg you not to leave your family! Either by walking out or suicide. Both are extreme actions to a temporary situation. You have every reason to hope that things can get better. Especially if you are a child of God. If you have never trusted in and given your life to Jesus Christ, that is the place you need to start. Email me at mdwhitney61@gmail.com. Let me know your situation and we can talk.
If you are a believer, then you already have the power within you, because of the presence of the Holy Spirit, to do what God wants you to do to turn your life and situation around.
Now when I say God will help you overcome the challenges you face, that does not mean He will snap His fingers, and everything will be perfect instantly. It has taken time to get into the circumstances you are in, and it will take time for change to take place, and it will take some hard work. But is not the situation you are in now extremely difficult? Ask yourself, which of the two hard paths will bring you a good outcome? There is always hope in God!
So, take heart, my friend! God said in 1 John 4:4 “You, dear children, are from God and have overcome them, because the One who is in you is greater than the one who is in the world.” Decide now to stick it out. It is too soon to quit!
