The Faithfulness of God
(June 22, 2026)
Semper fidelis is the motto of the U.S. Marine Corp and means “always faithful.”
It is an admirable goal for any group or individual. I do not think that anyone
wants to be known as being unfaithful – someone who cannot be trusted to come
through when needed. But the truth is that all of us fail to be faithful at some
point. But there is one who IS always faithful. Jesus Christ, the Son of God.
He never gets weary. He never gets frustrated. He is never overwhelmed or near
the breaking point. He is the “same yesterday, today and forever” Hebrews 13:8.
Are you worried about your relationship with Him because you have sinned? 1
John 1:9 says, “If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just and will forgive us our
sins and cleanse us from all unrighteousness.”
Are you concerned about the threats of our enemy, the devil? 2 Thessalonians 3:3
says, “But the Lord is faithful, who will strengthen you and protect you from the
evil one.”
Do you worry that you won’t be able to hold on to the end? 1 Thessalonians 5:24
promises us that “He who calls you is faithful, who also will do it.” And Heb. 10:23
reminds us “Let us hold fast the confession of our hope without wavering, for He
who promised is faithful.”
Friend, there is “nothing in all creation that can separate us from the love of God
in Christ Jesus our Lord” (Romans 8:39). You are secure, not because of your
determination or grit, but because God is Faithful!
This means that we can rest in Him and, “Be anxious for nothing, but in everything
by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to
God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your
hearts and minds in Christ Jesus” (Phil. 4:6-7).
So, place your faith in God’s faithfulness. “Cast all your cares on Him for He cares
for you” (1 Peter 5:7).
God is Faithful!
