“To Be Considered…Leading After Failure 2”

We’re talking about how to lead your family after failure. One of the hardest jobs a man can do is try to pick up the pieces after failing to be the leader of his home. It can be done! But it is not an easy road. God will help you, but it will take perseverance. Let’s examine a few more thoughts about how to lead your family after failure.

Last time we mentioned three key elements to keep in mind. 1) Commit everything you are to Jesus Christ. 2) Realize that it will take a long time for relationships to heal. Commit yourself for the long haul. 3) Realize that, however long it  takes, the healing of the hearts of your wife and children are worth whatever you must do to see it through.

There is much we could talk about, but I just want to pass along three more thoughts for your consideration. First, seek out a godly counselor. Don’t go through this journey alone. The path is just too hard. You need help.

Next, acknowledge your sins and failures to your wife and children Ask their forgiveness. True humility is absolutely essential to even begin the process of healing and restoration. Let the Lord crush you. Then watch Him build you up to be the man He wants!

Finally, maintain your daily walk with Jesus Christ. This is not a once in a while kind of game. The stakes are high. You may not get another shot. You must constantly pray and seek God’s face. Don’t be discouraged if you make mistakes. Just confess them, repent and move on. You weren’t perfect before you failed and you’re not perfect now. You just see more clearly what you need to do and are willing to put in the work.

These are just a few concepts the Lord showed me through His word and the counsel of other godly believers. Put them into practice and watch God work. Ask Him for wisdom. He won’t deny you. (James 1:5) As you slowly earn the respect back of your wife and children, you will then be able to lead them in a godly way. God be with you, my brother, as you seek to become the man God wants you to be. And by the way, we at Paraclete Men’s Ministries can help. Contact us at mdwhitney61@gmail.com.
