Who Do You Listen To?

Everyone needs someone they can turn to for wise advice. Only a fool listens exclusively to his own counsel. In fact, Proverbs 12:15 warns us, “The way of a fool is wise in his own eyes, but a wise man listens to advice.” So, my friend, to whom do you go for counsel?

Psalm 1:1-2 tells us who to NOT to turn to for counsel, “Blessed is the man who does not walk in the counsel of the wicked, or set foot on the path of sinners, or sit in the seat of mockers.” Who are the wicked, the sinners, and the mockers? It could be your coworker, neighbor, or family member. But there are other voices.

Every TV show, movie, best-selling novel, and popular song on the radio preaches a message that claims to know the way to live. Millions of people turn to popular psychology for answers thinking that science will help them with the problems that gnaw at their souls. Then there are the myriads of religions that claim to possess the truth. However, Proverbs 14:12 says, “There is a way that seems right to a man, but in the end, it leads to death.” This is talking about spiritual death in hell.

Friend, are you absolutely sure that the “voices” you are listening to are leading you to the truth about life and death? May I say that the Word of God, the Holy Bible, has been telling mankind the truth for thousands of years and has yet to be proven in error and untrustworthy.

In the Bible we learn that God IS. We learn that you and I are in rebellion against God from birth, that rebellion is called sin. We learn that sin is punishable by death. We learn that God loves us so much that He punished His only Son for our sins so that He could legitimately forgive us and set us free from sin’s punishment, hell, and power. We can overcome sin and live a righteous life in Christ’s strength.

Jesus’ resurrection from the dead proves that all of what I just stated is true. If you disbelieve the resurrection, I challenge you to investigate it for yourself. The facts are there for anyone to examine.

Then stop listening to the lies from this world’s system. Believe in Jesus Christ and submit your life to Him. There is no other way! Jesus said, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.” Believe it and receive it!
