Do You Have a Divided Heart?
In 1957 Charles Templeton renounced the faith he had preached for almost 2 decades. He was the man everyone thought was the premiere evangelist of his day, even more effective and powerful as a speaker than his contemporary, Billy Graham. After attending Princeton University at the request of his Nazarene denominational leaders, Templeton started to doubt his faith, then he abandoned it and tried to derail his friend, Billy Graham to do the same.
Racked by doubts Graham struggled in his soul one August night in the San Bernadino mountains. After weeks of wrestling with the questions with which Templeton had stumped the young evangelist, that night Graham fell to his knees and told God that he was choosing to believe the Bible. He was choosing to live by faith that the Bible was God’s Holy Word. Peace flooded his soul and Billy knew that a great spiritual victory had been won that night. The rest, as they say, is history.
Perhaps there is a battle raging in your heart right now. God is calling you to forsake the world and your sin and believe the gospel. You know the urging of the Holy Spirit to choose, yet you haven’t made that decision yet. You want God and the world. But you can’t have both. Listen and believe God’s word to you…
1 John 1:15 says, “Do not love the world or anything in the world. If anyone loves the world, love for the Father is not in them.” James 4:4 states, “You adulterous people, don’t you know that friendship with the world means enmity against God? Therefore, anyone who chooses to be a friend of the world becomes an enemy of God.”
I implore you to take that step of faith and say “yes” to Jesus Christ! Believe He paid for your sins on the cross. Believe He rose from the dead and tell Him that with His help you give Him your life to obey Him in whatever He asks you to do.
After you do, write me at mdwhitney61@gmail.com and tell me. I would love to encourage you in your new life. God help you to step across that line into faith and the new life He has waiting for you.
